Nupro Illumine / White Gold System
Dentsply International have developed the NUPRO White Gold / Illumine Teeth Whitening system. As with many other teeth whitening methods the NUPRO system takes place both in the dentist’s surgery and as an at-home treatment for follow up whitening.
The NUPRO Illumine teeth whitening system involves a 36% hydrogen peroxide gel that is prepared at the time of application to the teeth. NUPRO Illumine is applied to the mouth using trays that have been specially prepared for each individual patient. The actual application of the Illumine treatment involves three separate applications of the gel which is left on the teeth for 15 minutes at a time. The entire treatment time can be expected to take around 60 to 70 minutes.
A few advantages to using the Illumine system should also be highlighted, specifically that the tray used to apply the gel incorporates individual reservoirs in which it is held against the tooth while keeping ensuring that the gums do not come in contact with the peroxide. The application process does not involve heat or light as other systems do, so there is little chance that the patient will experience any of the discomfort that other processes may cause. As for the gel itself, it is of a consistency that is similar to rubber base impression material which allows the dentist to control its exact placement reducing the risk that it will flow outside of the tray reservoirs.
The option of taking an at-home treatment kit is available after your in-office treatment is complete. The NUPRO White Gold whitener is commonly used to additionally brighten the initial treatment that has taken place in the dentist’s office.
And just how much whiter can you expect your teeth to become after using the NUPRO Illumine and White Gold treatments? According to Dentsply, you can expect a brightening of around 6 to 9 shades.
The NUPRO system appears to have nailed teeth whitening that is quick, pain free and with a minimum of risk.

I got this kit from my dentist yesterday. He instructed me to put it in and go to bed…. which I did. This morning my teeth hurt soooo bad! Sensitive to Everything! I dont think I will sleep with it tonight! I think I will just wear it for a while while I watch television … then rinse and brush my teeth before going to bed and see if that is better. Now… as for whitening. I did see a definate improvement in the whiteness of my teeth this morning. Unfortunately my kit did not come with any sort of color card to match my teeth up to in order to actually be able to tell you how many shades whiter they became. I am not a smoker… do not drink coffee/tea or dark soda. I am 50 yrs old… just so you know… my teeth were not really stained.. except due to age. I do recommend this stuff for whitening…. but… hopefully your teeth will not be as sensitive as mine are!
