iWhite Light Activated Teeth Whitening Kit

A new concept in OTC take home teeth whitening products has been introduced in the form of iWhite Light Activated Teeth Whitening Kits. This system introduces light technology in a compact mouthpiece. The iWhite kit is made by Remedent which is a Belgium-based company.

iWhite Light Activated Teeth Whitening KitThe iWhite Light Activated Teeth Whitening Kit uses iWhite foam strips that are placed in the mouthpiece for each bleaching session. The bleaching agent is a gel that contains 6% Hydrogen Peroxide. The gel is activated by a light that is embedded in the iWhite tray that is powered by a 3-volt battery. The bluish light pulses the light into the whitening foam strips which catalyses the whitening reaction, speeding up the whitening process.

Treatment time is twenty minutes and it is recommended to follow a 5 day treatment. The whitening foam strips are discarded after each whitening session.

Each iWhite Light Activated Teeth Whitening Kit contains a 3-volt light activated tray and 10 disposable whitening foam strips.

There have been some reviews in about iWhite and those that have used it have expressed their satisfaction with the product finding that it has given good whitening results after only 1 or 2 treatments. There have only been a minority of people who have claimed that the product did not work at all, but there is always going to be a percentage who do not see a benefit.

Sensitivity does not seem to be an issue but because the product contains Hydrogen Peroxide gum inflammation can be an issue if the gel makes contact with the more sensitive parts of the mouth.

Overall these appear to be worthwhile teeth bleaching kits that are worth consideration. The price is around the $40 mark for a 5 day whitening treatment.

DenTek Complete White Professional Whitening

Dental products company DenTek has introduced a teeth whitening product into their range of dental floss and picks. The product is called Complete White Professional Whitening and it is advertised as an affordable whitening system that blocks sensitivity while giving professional-quality whitening for a whole year. Teeth bleaching systems like this one appear to cover the range of possible needs in teeth whitening.

DenTek’s Complete White Professional Whitening system is a dual-formula system that is to be used at home. You use the formula once a day and the application takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. In 7 days the Deep Stain Formula will have done its work and your teeth should be whiter.

The entire year side of the bargain is covered by the Touch-Up Formula that comes with the pack which you apply once a month to maintain the whitening effect.

To apply the DenTek Complete White Professional Whitening system you spread a film of the Deep Stain Formula gel to the inside of the Comfort Trays. The trays are placed over the upper and lower teeth firmly to spread the gel evenly. They are then left in place for 30 minutes. Remove the trays after 30 minutes and then you brush or rinse the remaining gel from your teeth.

The Deep Stain Formula gel is made with 6% hydrogen peroxide. This level has been kept low to avoid causing discomfort to the gums and so that the tooth enamel is not affected. The active ingredient in the Touch-Up Formula is a 10% carbamide peroxide.

The tooth sensitivity problem that other OTC teeth whitening systems have is caused by the peroxide in the product dehydrating the teeth during application. The Complete White gels are designed to hydrate the teeth while they work.

Speaking of work, does the Complete White Professional Whitening work? The only independent review of the product that I have seen has given the system a moderate rating with only mediocre results and a complaint that the trays were uncomfortable. Time will tell as more people try the product and give feedback on their results.

The cost of the DenTek Complete White Professional Whitening pack is around $20 but if you visit the Dentek website you can order coupons that give you $5 off the price.
